Even if you’re not a world-famous pitmaster and entering to win big at the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Content, you can still dig into all things BBQ! Just in case you need a little help, we’ve put together the We Are Memphis BBQ Trail to guide you through a handful of the hundreds of spots around the city!

Central BBQ: This Memphis institution is known for its perfectly smoked ribs, brisket, and pulled pork, as well as its delicious sides like mac and cheese and collard greens. Don’t forget to grab some delicious BBQ Nachos (pro tip: get them with the house chips!).

The Rendezvous: The Rendezvous has been serving up dry-rubbed ribs since 1948! The atmosphere is cozy and historic, and the food is some of the best in the city. They’ve recently opened up their “al fresco” dining

Cozy Corner: Cozy is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The barbecue here is cooked with love and served with a variety of homemade sauces and sides!

Payne’s BBQ: Payne’s has got the Southern-style BBQ game down pat. From the bologna sandwiches to some of the best slaw in the city, you don’t want to miss this spot. The pork shoulder is slow-smoked over hickory wood for hours, resulting in incredibly tender meat that falls off the bone.

The Bar-B-Q Shop: The Bar-B-Q Shop is famous for its BBQ spaghetti, a Memphis specialty that combines spaghetti with tender pulled pork and a sweet and tangy tomato-based sauce.

These are just a few of the many great BBQ restaurants in Memphis! For even more, be sure to check out even more spots on our BBQ trail!

Fall is the perfect time to cozy up and nourish your soul with some delicious Memphis soul food that tastes just like your grandmama made it. Get cozy with some delicious soul food in East Memphis with some of the most outstanding chefs and restaurateurs. The Bluff City has no shortage of great restaurants that stamp their soul food as the best in the city. Here are a few restaurants to try and be sure to drop your favorite soul food restaurant in Memphis and dish in the comments.

The Crock Pot 2

The Crock Pot 2’s setup is similar to cafeteria style…With food so tasty you’ll want to pull up to the counter to order up some deliciousness on a plate! This no frills spot is serving up soul food daily. Try the rib tips or pork chops with sides like mac and cheese and greens. Trust us, their sauce for pork chops is next level! The prices are super reasonable, and the fried chicken hits the spot every time!

Southern Hands Homestyle Cooking

Crispy chicken wings. Meat Loaf. Candied yams. Peach cobbler. Southern Hands has it all! You’ll come back again and again for their catfish fillets and affordably priced eats. The restaurant does have vegetable plates, too. However, I would highly recommend that this is where you come to get a fully loaded plate like… Chicken and Dressing or Fish and Spaghetti.

Patrick’s

Patrick’s East Memphis restaurant is a neighborhood bar & grille that has been a local Memphis gathering place for over 25 years, however they aren’t your typical “bar and grille”. They serve made-from-scratch home cooking, hand-cut aged steaks, and barbecue in a fun bar atmosphere.

Mahogany

Mahogany has all the good stuff! Think Memphis Soul Food with a Cajun spin. Collard greens, mac and cheese, oxtails, catfish, and grits. You’ll love the over-the-top presentation and heaping portions. Mahogany is located in the Chickasaw Oaks Plaza.

Prive (Soulfood Sunday)

Only great eats and gospel music at club levels at Prive on a Sunday! Memphis mogul, businessman, and artist Yo Gotti grew up in a family where his mother loved to cook. He opened up Prive and the rest is history…. his mother “Mama Mimms” throws down in the kitchen every Sunday; sharing with Memphis the family recipes. Expect delicious eats and a fun atmosphere with a superb Arnold Palmer at Prive!
